Dan Moore, a world-record-setting pilot, is attempting a new feat this year and finishing at Oshkosh for AirVenture. Moore broke a Guinness World Record for landing at the most airports in 24 hours at 92 in 2019 and this year he will attempt to land in 25-30 states in 24 hours – triple the current record of nine.

48 states in 48 hours – A world record flight

Moore will leave Durant, Oklahoma on July 23 and he will attempt to land in Oshkosh at AirVenture 24 hours later, after stopping at 25 to 30 states and breaking a Guinness World Record. He will attempt this challenging journey as a solo pilot, sponsored by groups like Sirius XM Aviation, Lightspeed Aviation and Jet Shades. AirVenture attendees and enthusiasts just following along can witness the journey using a Garmin In Reach link.

On his record-breaking trip, Moore will land at sites including Cox Field (PRX) in Paris, Texas; Oconee County Regional Airport (CEU) in Clemson, South Carolina; Pike County/Hatcher Field Airport (PBX) in Pikeville, Kentucky; and Dubuque Regional Airport (DBQ) in Dubuque, Iowa. Moore will end his journey on the opening day of AirVenture 2023 in Oshkosh.

Prizes will also be given away to a select few, including a free FAA checkride (a $900 value), a single day of avionics training at Moore’s home airport, or a $1,500 credit toward a recurrent training course offered by Dan Moore Aero LLC. Two lucky winners will also receive a World Record Commemorative shirt.

Moore is a FAA Designated Pilot examiner, a Guinness World Record holder, an A&P mechanic, an aircraft broker, ASA Senior Aircraft Appraiser and a professional pilot. He has over 10,000 hours of experience and decades of flying. He began flying at 15, taking his first solo flight at 16. He earned his Airframe & Power Plant Certificates and eventually obtained his Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot Certificate and Flight Instructor with Instrument Privileges. In 1997 he graduated from Moody Aviation with a B.S. in Missionary Aviation Technology.

He began his professional flight career, including flight instructing. In his corporate role Moore logged hours in the PA46 series, the Cessna 421 C Golden Eagle and over 1,000 hours in the King Air 200. In 2009 he went full-time into flight instruction. Since then, he has trained more than 500 pilots and his services now include insurance-approved flight training, aircraft brokerage, aircraft appraisals and FAA checkrides.

Follow along Moore’s journey as he embarks on an ambitious solo attempt to shatter a previous world record and land at one of the biggest aviation events in the world, EAA AirVenture.
