Sporty’s released a free online refresher course for flight instructors with new lessons and an all-new user interface for immersive learning. The Sporty’s Flight Instructor Refresher Course for 2023 is completely free for all active flight instructors and educators.
“As instructors ourselves we know how frustrating many FIRC experiences can be, so we set out to create a modern, engaging, and easy-to-use course,” Sporty’s Senior VP Bret Koebbe said. “This year’s edition continues our focus on practical topics to make flight training more effective, and by making it available for free we hope to make the CFI renewal process completely hassle-free.”
The FIRC content is updated and expanded for the new year. The 2023 course has a greater focus on modern technology, new weather tools, FAA regulation updates, current safety trends and tips to get the most out of the IACRA. New lessons incorporate images and graphics with supplemental video content and a review quiz at the end of each section.
The 2023 refresher is built with an all-new online course design to make it quicker and easier for the user to navigate. The FIRC is universally accessible, on PC, Mac and mobile devices. Use the course without any unnecessary downloads. Just log in and start the course, with a progress dashboard keeping you updated on your progress and quiz scores.
Flight instructors can also receive additional free tools. This includes access to Sporty’s Learn to Fly, Instrument and Commercial courses, each with student progress tracking and all FAA handbook, Sporty’s TCOs and ground lesson guides. An extensive reference library is also included, with access to certification standards, regulations and a CFI endorsement guide.
Instructors can enroll in the FIRC by creating a free account. CFIs using the program can choose a paperless ACR service as well. Sporty’s will also process all the renewal paperwork within the course and issue a temporary certificate for just $49.95 – all without a trip to your local FSDO. Ground instructors can receive a graduation certificate to meet recent experience requirements.
